Gulf Brewery

A microbrewery producing hand crafted boutique beers, Gulf Brewery can be found in a charming old building on the main street of Hahndorf and is a great place to relax by the fireplace in winter. Offering a unique range, there’s sure to be a beer to suit your individual palate. Whether you love a crisp, refreshing lager, a smooth dark chocolate stout, a smoky brew or all of the above and more, head to Gulf Brewery. A hot tip? Get their tasting paddle if you just want a little taste of them all. Their 6 beer paddle is $10 and allows you to choose between 10 beers of 330ml; alternatively the 10 beer paddle is $14 and consists of all the beers on offer all in 550ml glasses. Arcobräu Brauhaus

Are you seeking a fine German beer? Head for the Arcobräu Brauhaus next to the Hahndorf Inn, and be in awe of the traditional beer hall. Fully renovated and located in the incredible Borchers Blacksmith Barn that was built in 1863, you’ll feel like you’ve left Adelaide and stepped into a whole new world. With an extensive range of Bavarian-made Arcobräu beers (the beer house’s partner brand) including Helles, Weissbier (wheat beer), Dunkels and Pilsener on offer, plus other family owned German varieties on tap, you’ll be sinking more than a few in an effort to try and taste all the exciting flavours. Enjoy their large 60-seat outdoor beer garden or relish the atmosphere inside the hall as you’re waited on by their staff in traditional German dress. German Arms Hotel

Another stop for a German beer experience is the classic German Arms Hotel. Established in 1839, this hotel is a South Australian icon, rich in history and known for their delicious food and range of both local and German beers. Hahndorf Old Mill

Initially established in 1854 and operating as a steam mill, servicing farmers as far away as Victoria for over 60 years, the Hahndorf Old Mill became a German-style restaurant in 1971 after all milling operations were closed down in 1923. Now a popular food and drink destination – and also a great place to rest your head during your visit to the village – the Old Mill boasts three bars where you’re sure to find your beer fix.
