Many people ask where the name Roots & Reasons comes from. It’s a name that has many special meanings to us.
Firstly, it comes from this wonderful saying from the Dali Lama, which you can see featured on the wall in our cafe.
Secondly, Amber has historical family roots in Hahndorf – her mother’s family, the Pfeiffers, were one of the original 54 families to settle in Hahndorf way back in 1839, and one of the first settlers on her father’s side (Juliane Both) is buried in the cemetery here.
And thirdly, Matt has worked all over Adelaide and Hobart for many wonderful restaurant and cafe owners for more than 25 years, so when the opportunity of this amazing venue came up, we thought what better reason do you need?!
