HAHNDORF CHRISTMAS VILLAGE – OVER 2 WEEKENDS

With only a few more shopping days until Christmas, now is the time to shop local in Hahndorf and support the village traders, artisans, and producers.

Pop in and say hello to the locals, while you search for the perfect gift, and stock up on local produce. There really is something unique for everyone in Hahndorf.

After the success of our third award-winning HANDMADE. HANDCRAFTED. HANDPICKED. Festival in September, Hahndorf has shown its evolvement into a true artisan village. Many people may not be aware of the sheer depth and range of the talent and produce associated with our region.

And with COVID still on our minds we are delighted to invite you to enjoy Christmas shopping in a country, open-air environment.

Come enjoy our hospitality and bring your family and friends.

There will be buskers and Christmas lights all throughout the village and come and have your photo taken with the gingerbread family or the elves.

This year, thanks to the children from Bridgewater Primary School we’ll be running on Elf on The Street Competition from 9-24 December.

Count how many elves you can find along main street and either fill in our online entry form here or pick up a paper entry form from the Visitor Information Centre or Roots & Reasons cafe at 91 Main Street.

All correct entries will go into the draw to win a $100 gift voucher thanks to Beerenberg to spend at their Farm Cafe and Shop this summer.

T’was a couple of weeks leading up to Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; the stockings were hung by the chimneys with care, in hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

Friday 9 December St Nicholas comes to Hahndorf in the Alec Johnson Park from 6.30pm. Run by the St Paul’s Lutheran Church or many years the St Nicholas event is much loved by locals and visitors alike. There will be many children’s activities, a free sausage sizzle, and community carol singing. At 7.15pm St Nicholas will arrive at the park to give a special Christmas message to the children followed by entertainment from the Hahndorf Town Band. There will be a free

‘Gingerbread Gift’ for the children, and free tea, coffee, and cake for the adults.

The St Nicholas event really kick starts the Christmas event line-up in the village Hahndorf Christmas Village with the first of two weekend market events.

Hahndorf will come alive on two weekends this December with late night trading and two Christmas Markets… the Gathered Design Market on 9, 10, & 11 December. Theile House (lane way adjacent Landhaus Wines) at the Adelaide end of main street.

The Gathered Design Market supports local SA designers, artisans, and small businesses.

Join in all the festivities to celebrate the excitement and spirit of Christmas and shop up a storm for yourself and your loved ones with over 60 stalls.

Enjoy delicious eats, coffee, and wine.
